Lions and Tigers and Halloween, Oh My!
Written by: Christa Reed
I know, it seems crazy to think about Halloween already but I'm not gonna lie, once that first pumpkin spice latte hits the lips, it's on.
Like a switch, it's time for costume brainstorming, apple picking, weekend orchard chaos, all while figuring out what new foods I can force pumpkin flavoring into. Because we love the season so much we've got an action-packed Autumn ready to take your mind off of the glory that was Summer 2014. Here's our top five events you CANNOT miss:
Travel by twister to Oz by creating your very own twister and learning the science behind the funnel! Read along with a play pal and join the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion for some fun antics to defeat the Wicked Witch of the West. Finally, tap those socks together three times to slide back over the rainbow to Chicago! We will be reading the Wizard of Oz, making a tornado in a cup and a rainbow to hang, and playing some games! Join us on our wild adventure!
It's as easy as that! NPN members get into the Shedd Aquarium for FREE, no strings attached on October 5. Need to renew your membership? Perfect time to do that now since this event alone is worth $150 for a family of four.
Are you a new mom with a baby nine months or younger? Are you looking to get out (with or without your little one) and meet some other moms and babies and maybe win a great prize? This event is a great way to do all of these things and have a fantastic time. Join us for some music, mingling and fun. Snacks, FREE raffle prizes and more!!
Seriously, this is going to be the Halloween party of the year. We've got face painting, a pumpkin patch, family photos by Eva Ho Photography, trick-or-treating, cupcake decorating with Sugar Bliss Cake Boutique and so much more. Each child will receive a bag or bucket to hold their treats and a "passport" to guide them to the treat and activity tables, each representing a unique country and their Halloween customs. Hot chocolate, apple cider, and snacks will be served. Don't forget to wear your costume!
