Listen to Your Mother!

Written by: Tracey Becker

Living in the Chicagoland area, I often feel extremely blessed to have such a diverse selection of cultural and artistic events consistently available to me and my family. When my husband and I lived away from this area for only 9 months, I was shocked to discover that it is NOT the norm in small towns to be able to find an assortment of entertainment at a moment’s notice! Hence, the “9 months.”

It is with extreme honor that I am now a part of the theatrical force that Chicago possesses. My co-producer, Melisa Wells, and I are proudly bringing to the stage on May 4th, for the 3rd year in a row, the Listen To Your Mother Show!

Listen To Your Mother is a one-day, live-on-stage production that showcases the variety of layers that Motherhood exhibits through original readings by local writers. But it’s more than just 90 minutes of entertainment; LTYM honestly changes lives. Connections have been made, and will continue to be made, both on stage and off when stories are told that resonate within your heart in a moment of “Oh my gosh! ME TOO!” In fact, “Me Too,” is one of the key phrases that national director, Ann Imig of Madison, WI, has coined as a driving force behind what has kept Listen To Your Mother alive and growing since its “conception” as a one-city show in 2010. It will be held in 32 CITIES across the USA this year!

We are blessed by the diversity and talent that Chicago has. Our cast this year, as in the previous 2 years, is genuine and unique and BEAUTIFUL. Though our paths through life have been vastly different, one common thread unites each of us, and each of you: we all know what Motherhood is. Motherhood is universal. Motherhood is Love.

We invite you to join us this year, one week before Mother’s Day, as we bring to the stage the stories of 15 women and their experiences with Motherhood. We promise this: you will leave the theater with a full heart!

The 2014 Listen To Your Mother Chicago show will be held at 2:00pm at the Athenaeum Theatre on May 4th. Tickets can be found at or via the Listen To Your Mother Show website.

10% of all ticket proceeds will be donated to (a local charity dedicated to the emotional and physical recovery for women who have gone through or are going through treatment for breast cancer).

We hope to see you there and Happy Mother’s Day!

*** Please note that while children of all ages are welcome, this show is loosely rated PG-13 due to subject matter.
