Playdates with Purpose

Written by: Amy Cahill

During the month of April, we are taking playdates to the next level and showcasing the united front of Chicago families.  Families across Chicago unite around sports, school decisions, parenting challenges and victories, memorable activities for their kids, and more.  Now, we are asking families to join NPN and More Than Milk in connecting through philanthropy and community activism.

The Playdate with Purpose Challenge benefiting the Little Giraffe Foundation is back to provide families an easy, meaningful opportunity to share the importance of helping others.  Through playdate drives large and small, we will collect comfort items for NICU families and support the Little Giraffe Foundation: an organization dedicated to funding advances in neonatal medicine and supporting NICU families.  Our goal is 50 playdates demonstrating the compassion and united power of Chicago families.

Getting involved is easy:

1.     Purchase comfort items (All NEW): Board Books, Plastic Baby Toys, Journals, and Reusable Water Bottles

2.     Sign up for a community playdate listed below and/or plan your own playdate with your friends (email for easy planning & pick up steps).

3.     Attend playdate: connect with friends, donate you comfort items, and learn more about the Little Giraffe Foundation’s dedication to funding advances in neonatal medicine and supporting NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) families!

Here are some of the upcoming Playdates with Purpose:

In 2013 families, playgroups, and local businesses hosted 23 playdates collecting hundreds of comfort items for families in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Stroger Hospital and introduced families to the amazing work of the Little Giraffe Foundation.  With your support, we can double our impact!   To learn more visit or email
