Chicago's Best Kid-Sized Places to Trick-or Treat!

Now that you've found the perfect costume for your little ones, it's time to fill that dance card up with the best places to show it off.  

First on our list of fun places to don your spooky new duds is the Strollers in the Front 5K.  Not only can your little one rock their costume during the race, they can enter the costume contest at the Spooktacular Family Fun Festival after the race.  In addition to the costume contest, your little ghost and gobblins will enjoy a kids dash, bounce house, pumpkin decorating, snacks and much more.

  • When - Sunday, October 28th, 7:30am-12pm
  • Where - Montrose Harbor
  • Cost - The registration fee for runners (including timing chip) is $35. The fee for walkers (no timing chip) is $25. It doesn’t cost extra to bring a child in a stroller. Children can join the Kids Dash for $15; $25 for up to 5 siblings. (Get your NPN Parent Perk Discount!)

A number of Chicago's most kid-friendly neighborhoods have organized trick-or-treating.  In addition to getting lots of treats, most of these events have face painting, bounce houses and other fun activities.

North Center Halloween Trick-or-Treating and Costume Contest - This annual event kicks off in Northcenter Town Square. Get your special bag, then set off with map in hand to trick-or-treat at local merchants. The fun continues in Town Square with refreshments and a costume contest.

  • When - Saturday, October 27th, 10am-1pm
  • Cost - FREE

Halloween Spooktacular - Spooktacular is all about: street magicians, jugglers, balloon artists, Halloween inflatables and costumed characters strolling Clark Street, all serving to engage pedestrians in good old-fashioned Halloween fun. 

  • Where - Clark St. (between Armitage and Diversey
  • When - Saturday, October 27th, 1-5pm
  • Cost - FREE

Halloween Happenings - Bring the children out to Trick-or-Treat along the business districts of Lincoln Square. In addition to trick-or-treating enjoy a costume contest, spooky story time and pumpkin decorating.

  • When - Saturday, October 27th, 11am-3pm
  • Cost - FREE

Halloween on Armitage - Families will enjoy a costume contests, face painting, games, photo booth, spooky stories and magic show. After the festivities, families are encouraged to trick-or-treat at the stores along Armitage, Halsted and Webster.

  • Cost - FREE (activities additional fee)

Roscoe Village Halloween Parade - Follow the Lane Tech March band down Roscoe Street.  Afterward, get your fill of treats at the local merchants.

  • When - Sunday, October 28th, 2pm
  • Cost - FREE

Trick-or Treat on Southport - Kids can trick or treat from 1:00 - 4:00 on Southport from Belmont to Irving, and stay for the Pumpkin Party featuring Smarty Pants from 1:00 - 4:00 on Southport at Grace. The Pumpkin Party will feature pumpkin decorating, moon jumps Smarty Pants balloon artistry, face painting, games and prizes.

  • Cost - Trick-or-Treating is free, $5 suggested donation for party
