NPN New Moms Groups-A must for new & even experienced moms
Written by: Beth Cohen-Dorfman
You probably joined NPN when you were pregnant because you were looking for childcare options for your soon-to-be baby. You checked out Parent Universities and learned about cloth diapering and making your own baby food and then joined a New Moms Group and, voila!, you realized that NPN had more than paid for itself!
NPN’s New Moms Groups are a truly unique way to connect with other brand new moms - plus they are FREE to NPN members. Through the bonding over common concerns and experiences, while sitting on the floor of an NPN volunteer’s home, you suddenly knew that you were not alone. By clearing a space for a group of new moms and babies (many sound asleep), your New Moms Group Host created connections between otherwise unlikely friends.
Maybe what you don’t know is how easy it is to host a group and give that feeling of camaraderie to another group of brand new moms.
Our groups are broken up by moms’ intended work status; we run (at least) one group for moms who plan to stay home, one for moms on maternity leave and one for moms already back to work. We try to coordinate your experience with the moms you will be hosting.
We run at least three groups every month (except for Dec. & Jul.) and are always looking for new hosts. Currently we are in need of hosts for January 2012 and beyond. If you’re interested, please email beth@npnparents.org.
Thank you to 30+ years of amazing New Moms Group hosts! We owe NPN and you for connecting us with great new mommy friends.
