Jill Stein - Resource Coordinator for Northwestern Integrative Medicine. Jill has a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. She has been teaching group fitness classes since 2000. She is a certified group exercise instructor and personal trainer through the Aerobic and Fitness Association of America (AFAA). She has been coordinating the Fitness and Wellness Class Program since September of 2003, and has been teaching for the program since March of 2002. She is certified to teach The Pilates Method mat class through the Physicalmind Institute, and is a Master Trainer of Pre and Postnatal Exercise with Healthy Moms. She has completed advanced training in the Total Control TM Program, and taught the Total Control study group at NMH in 2006. She studied with a certified Yoga instructor, and trained for Yoga and Pilates through AFAA.  She is a Certified Zumba (R), Zumba Gold (R) instructor and Peyow Aqua Pilates Instructor. Jill has done additional training on Senior Fitness and Injury Prevention with AFAA. At NMH, she currently teaches Yoga, Gentle Pilates, Strength and Balance for Mature Adults, Endurance Training, and Zumba and Zumba Gold.

Work it mama: finding time to exercise after baby

Walking is one of the most accessible forms of exercise.  Start with shorter distances and work your way up to longer distances.  You can put the baby in a stroller or wear the baby in a carrier.  When the weather permits, walk outside.  When the weather doesn't cooperate, walk the aisles of a large grocery store, Target, or walk inside a mall.  Find another mom to be your walking-buddy so you can encourage each other.
