In the whirlwind of the school week, throwing together a haphazard lunch can easily happen. We are busy. We run out of ideas. We forget to feed ourselves half the time!
But when you plan ahead, school lunches can be healthy and fun for your kids, and you transform into a rockstar parent. Ta-da!
The key is to prepare with fun “tools”...
Lunch box/bag/container: Whatever the style, easily washable is key. And durable. Must be durable.

“No gifts, please!” We’ve all received those invites, but rarely do we feel empowered to act upon those instructions. Who wants to look like a thoughtless guest, and what kids will really understand?
Like many others, we’re trying to balance the excesses of childhood with a sense of value, while at the same time building environmental and fiscal responsibility. While we have tended to be traditionalists on the party gifts front, I've come up with these ideas to help avoid the glut of b...Posted on September 18, 2019 at 4:43 PM

In addition to a generally friendly Midwestern vibe from passers-by, there are a handful of little-known watch-outs and hacks that Chicago moms of yore have discovered along the way. For advice, we asked our Member Discussion Forum and social media channels to weigh in: What would you tell a first-time Chicago mom? Here’s what we learned.

Public preschool admissions, procedures and offerings have been an ever-changing process year after year. This year is no exception as CPS is once again in the midst of changes to their Chicago Early Learning programs (formerly known as Ready to Learn, Preschool for All and others).
The newest change is a Universal PreK (UPK) component, but CPS is rolling it out in phases to further confuse and muddle the landscape.
This latest initiative was announced by outgoing Mayor Rahm Ema...Posted on September 05, 2019 at 9:54 AM

Here’s a thought: 52% of Fortune 500 CEOS are bilingual. That makes learning Spanish as a second language from birth a valuable life skill. Bilingual kids can also pick up other critical languages like software coding to help them level the playing field.
Rayito de Sol Spanish Immersion Early Learning Center is a full Spanish immersion preschool. This means that all instructions and activities are conducted in Spanish. New students quickly become comf...Posted on September 03, 2019 at 7:00 AM
