Urba Baby and NPN recently paired up with specialists from GRASP Group and On The Go Chicago to help parents expecting their second baby get some great ideas on how to best welcome their bundle of joy. Sara Sladoje provided some sound advice on how to prepare Baby #1 for Baby #2’s arrival and Cindy McCarthy presented information on how to get around and travel with two kiddos in tow.
At Urba Baby we have some handy items of our own to make your busy life on-the-go just a little e...Posted on November 30, 2012 at 7:00 AM
My daughter Alex is only 6, and I’m already hearing about “girl drama” at school. Negative comments like “I don’t want to play with you” or “I don’t like what you are wearing today” are hurtful interactions that can make girls feel isolated and alone.
Girls as young as preschool are dealing with friendship struggles and various degrees of social cruelty. It seems hard to imagine your baby involved in such situations, but social conflict takes various forms and is more common than we th...Posted on November 29, 2012 at 6:56 AM
I’ve always sworn that I wouldn’t get a dog. My kids have begged for one every day for as long as I can remember. They make a full-time job of it. My reasons for being immune to their pleas have been many:

I have spent too long cleaning up human poop. Do I really want to add animal poop to my repertoire?
I feel so emotionally attached and responsible for six little humans. Do I have the emotiona...

When you ask her what happens, Amy says that her older brother Adam pushed her. You find Adam’s concerned look in the next room. He admits that he pushes Amy but begins to cry when you put him in a time-out chair. You overhear from him, “I hate Amy. It is not fair.”
You may face this kind of situation on a regular basis. ...Posted on November 27, 2012 at 6:00 AM
When an eight-year-old says he’s stressed, there’s a problem.
As a yoga teacher, I’ve heard it all from my students. People often come to yoga for physical reasons, seeking relief from chronic back pain or shoulder and neck tension, but they keep coming back to the mat because it provides a retreat, a much-needed break from the stresses and tensions of everyday life.
One of my students brought her eight-year-old son to class recently, and when I asked if there was anything I should...Posted on November 26, 2012 at 6:00 AM

Those who have suffered from migraines know they are more than just intense headaches. While headache pains are part of a migraine, there are other symptoms, including nausea, dizziness and sensitivity to light. Treating migraines is not easy, but there are various natural techniques and alternative treatments that can ease the pain.
